Kathy Scheurman is WEA’s Professional Issues Director and UniServ Director. Her primary duties are: working on various professional education issues, including research, writing, speaking, following the work of legislative committees, etc.; professional development (both as a provider and in locating and disseminating information about available PD to our members; she also serves as the Wyoming contact for the NEA Academy and arranges for PTSB credit for Academy courses); liaison to such entities as the State Board of Education, Professional Teaching Standards Board, Wyoming Early Childhood Partnership, and others; and statewide UniServ duties.
She is a certified teacher in Wyoming and previously taught high school speech and debate, college-level communication, and for most of her teaching career, was a pre-K teacher and administrator in a non-profit school. She worked for a number of years at the Wyoming Department of Education, where she was a consultant and supervisor in federal programs, school accreditation, institutional and charter schools, and various other programs. She came to WEA in 2004 as Communications Director and transitioned into the Professional Issues position in 2006.
