Ken Decaria

Ken Decaria came to the Wyoming Education Association in 2009, as the Government Relations Director.  Before assuming his role at the WEA, Ken was a classroom teacher, and served in the Wyoming Legislature.

Ken Decaria was subsequently elected to the Wyoming State Senate from 1999-2009, where he served on numerous committees, including Education, Management Council, Transportation and Highways, Minerals, Business and Economic Development, and Judiciary.  He also held the positions of Senate Minority Floor Leader from 2007-2008, Senate Minority Whip from 2005-2006, and Senate Minority Caucus Chairman from 2003-2004.

Ken was a classroom teacher for Uinta County School District #1 in Evanston, WY, for 25 years.  There he taught sixth through twelfth grade science classes, as well as coached various middle school athletic teams.

Born and raised in Ogden, Utah, Ken  graduated cum laude from the University of Utah, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, and attended graduate school working on a MA in Educational Administration at  the University of Wyoming.

Ken lives with his wife Peg in Cheyenne; they have two adult daughters, and one grandchild
