Due Process (SP4)
The
75th Delegate Assembly directs the Government Relations Commission
to actively pursue legislation that will establish due process rights for all
educational employees as adopted in the WEA Legislative Platform and to report
back to the 76th Delegate Assembly.
2-2005 Broader Tax Base
for School Funding (SP 3)
The
75th Delegate Assembly directs the Government Relations Commission
to actively pursue legislation that opposes caps on revenues from mineral
royalties or any other sources of taxation.
Furthermore, they are directed to actively seek fair and uniform
assessment of taxes that fund education so that those monies can be directed to
the school districts in a timely fashion, and to report back to the 76th
Delegate Assembly.
3-2005 Explore Health
Plan Options (SP 2)
The
75th Delegate Assembly directs the Governmental Relations Commission
to:
1. Actively pursue legislation that would
maintain local control for choosing a total health benefit package that
includes health, dental and vision for each school district; and
2. Advocate from a proactive position to
ensure no loss of benefits to any school district.
The Commission
will report back to the 76th Delegate Assembly.
WEA Board
4-2006
Statewide Locations for DA
(SP 6)
The 75th Delegate Assembly
directs the WEA Board to investigate and
secure appropriate statewide locations for future Delegate Assemblies. The Board will report back to the 76th
Delegate Assembly.
5-2007
WEA Retired Local Support (SP 5)
The
75th Delegate Assembly directs the WEA Board of Directors to support the
efforts of the WEA-Retired local to continue to secure an NEA-Retired State
Project Grant. The Delegate Assembly
further directs the WEA Board to provide additional funding and staff support
to enhance the WEA-Retired program and membership.
6-2007 Delegate Assembly Dates/PAWS (SP 6)
The 75th Delegate Assembly
directs the WEA Board to investigate dates for 2008 and, if possible, schedule
Delegate Assembly so that it does not conflict with the PAWS testing window,
and to report back to the 76th Delegate Assembly.
WEA President
7-2001
Higher Ed “Due Process” Statute (SP 4)
The
75th Delegate Assembly directs the WEA President to designate an ad
hoc committee to work with the Government Relations Commission to research the
development and impact of a higher education “due process” statute. The WEA President shall report back to the 76th
Delegate Assembly.
8-2005 NEA
Intergenerational Mentoring Program (SP 2)
The 75th Delegate Assembly
directs the WEA President to implement the
NEA Intergenerational mentoring
program pairing WEA Retired
members with Student WEA members, and to report back to the 76th Delegate
Assembly.
9-2006 Statewide Teacher
Input Regarding PAWS and PAWS-alt (SP 1)
The
75th Delegate Assembly directs the WEA President to work with the
Wyoming Department of Education to ensure there is statewide teacher input to
address
the validity, implementation and associated impacts of the
Proficiency Assessment for Wyoming Students (PAWS) and PAWS-alt. The President will report back to the 76th
Delegate Assembly.

Ways to Increase Student Accountability (SP1)
The
75th Delegate Assembly directs the WEA President to establish a task
force to study and make recommendations on ways to increase student
accountability on the Proficiency Assessment of Wyoming Students and report the
findings to the 76th Delegate Assembly.
11-2007 WEA Candidate Questionnaire (SP5)
The 75th
Delegate Assembly directs the WEA President to investigate ways to reduce the
length of the WEA Candidate Questionnaire for the 2008 election cycle and make
that document more manageable and usable for local interview teams.
12-2007 Dues Structure
Task Force (SP 6)
The
75th Delegate Assembly directs the WEA President to establish a task
force to review the dues structure and budgeting process and report the
findings to the 76th Delegate Assembly.
