Tammy Schroeder

Tamsin (Tammy) Schroeder’s passion for students, teaching, and the legal system make her a great choice as the new WEA Government Relations Director. Tammy comes to WEA after a long career in public education in Wyoming and a short stint at the University of Wyoming College of Law. Before joining WEA, Tammy taught English for sixteen years at Laramie Sr. High School, and worked at the Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) for six years as a standards consultant, Language Arts specialist, and as the test development program manager for the PAWS. Her experiences at WDE inspired her to attend law school.

During her years teaching, Tammy was an active member of Albany County Education Association and WEA, serving as a building rep, local president, and the chair for the Business and Platforms Committee. She graduated in May 2017 with a juris doctorate, focusing on education and employment law, including studies in labor law and workers’ compensation.

Tammy has three children – Kelly, Sally, and Heidi – and is active in the Laramie community.  She is an avid UW Cowgirls basketball fan, and has served as the official scorekeeper for the Cowgirls for the last nine seasons. She is also known to enjoy a good game of tennis now and then.
