Higher Education Award

Audience and Lecturer

The Higher Education Professional of the Year award will be presented to a WEA member whose activities reflect the contributions of higher education professionals. The purpose of the award is to recognize a WEA higher education member who demonstrates outstanding accomplishments in two or more of the following areas:

  1. Provided leadership in education
  2. Promoted, designed and coordinated programs which enhance the relationship between higher education and the community (pre-K, business, international, etc.)
  3. Worked to improve relations and understanding among higher education groups (faculty and staff organizations, private institutions, etc.)
  4. Developed and promoted legislation affecting higher education
  5. Contributed to the WEA mission, vision and goals.

Eligibility

  • A. Any higher education professional who has been a member for three or more years.
  • B. The individual must be nominated by their local or region.
  • C. The Higher Education At-Large Representative to the WEA Board of Directors is ineligible for nomination while serving on the WEA Board.

Nomination Procedures

Nominations are due no later than one (1) week prior to the January WEA Board meeting.

Only WEA members are eligible to submit nominations.

The WEA Board of Directors makes the selection on the winners for each year.

Nominations must be submitted before 5 pm on Friday, January 30, 2026.
