Get ready for the 2024 Budget Session with the Wyoming Education Association!
The session begins on February 12 and runs through March 8. We’re offering you a suite of tools to stay informed and engaged in the legislative process so that real educators’ voices help shape the legislation impacting public education.
Stay informed by:
- Signing up for our weekly Legislative Updates, which alert you to important dates, and crucial calls to action.
- Tracking bills through the WEA Bill Tracker. This comprehensive tracking system provides daily updates on the progress of key bills impacting public education.
- Exploring our Legislative Report Card which monitor legislators’ votes on education bills and grades them on their support for public education. (Please note: The report card will update with 2024 data as votes begin to be cast by lawmakers during the legislative session).
Believe it or not, the 2024 election cycle is already in motion. We must change some faces at the Wyoming legislature to preserve and protect our public education system. Key races will shape the future of public education—we need your help supporting candidates aligned with our shared values to prioritize and protect our students and public schools.
Here’s how you can help:
Register to vote: Wyoming doesn’t offer online voter registration. You may register to vote via mail or in person at your local County Clerk’s office. To register, Wyoming voters must complete this voter application form and submit a notarized copy to their County Clerk in person or via mail. Forms are due two weeks before either the Primary Election (August 20) or the General Election (November 5). Voters may register using same-day voter registration on Election Day at their preferred polling location. Absentee ballots may be requested at any time in 2024 before an election date. Registered voter party affiliation declaration is due May 15, 2024.
Turn out to the polls: Vote for pro-public education candidates in the Primary and General Elections via absentee ballot or at a polling location near you. Encourage your friends, family, and colleagues to vote for legislators and school board candidates who care about our students and public schools.
Share your experiences with your social circle: Be bold and have conversations about your experience as an education employee. You are an expert in your field, and you can help educate voters about what we need in Wyoming public schools and which lawmakers will prioritize students and schools.
Volunteer to support pro-public education candidates: WEA supports pro-public education candidates by hosting events, developing ad campaigns, coordinating canvassing efforts, and more. Please consider supporting candidates endorsed by the WEA Political Action Committee for Education (WEA PACE).
Run for office: WEA members are actively recruiting education-friendly candidates for local school board and statewide Senate and House offices and organizing get-out-the-vote initiatives. Leverage our tools for candidate support and information—connect with WEA Government Relations Director Tate Mullen at tmullen@wyoea.org or (307) 286-3096 for guidance. Together, we can be the champions our students and public schools need
